The National High School Musical Theatre Awards (NHSMTA), popularly known as the Jimmy Awards, is a prestigious program celebrating exceptional student achievement in high school musical theatre across the United States. Established in 2009 by Pittsburgh CLO and Nederlander Alliances, the program impacts around 100,000 students annually, offering them the chance to participate in regional competitions hosted by over forty professional theatres. With a mission to champion arts education, the Jimmy Awards recognize outstanding artistry in acting, dancing, and singing.
Winners of the coveted Jimmy Awards are selected by a panel of industry experts, and the ceremony culminates each June on a Broadway stage, honoring the legacy of James M. Nederlander. In addition to recognition, the program has facilitated over $6 million in scholarships to deserving young performers, fostering future talent in the performing arts.
