Jinhua Homestay is an international cultural exchange and heritage project organized by the Foreign Affairs Office of the Jinhua Municipal People’s Government. It invites overseas participants to experience everyday life with Chinese families in Jinhua’s historical villages while learning about the region’s culture, architecture, customs, and folklore. The program combines homestays with activities such as cultural lectures, traditional experiences, visits to local enterprises, and exploration of village heritage.
Participants can also contribute their skills by documenting local stories, creating village maps, studying historic buildings, and sharing their experiences through photography or writing. These efforts aim to help preserve traditional culture and historic villages while supporting sustainable tourism. Sessions have taken place in villages including Shangjing, Siping, Songxi, Suoyuan, Yuyuan, and Zhiyan, with Lizhai named as the location for the announced 2020 session.
The project presents its homestays as a way for international young people to build connections, encounter authentic Chinese hospitality, and share perspectives with local communities and fellow participants from around the world
