About Jinsiangu
Jinsiangu is a Kenyan-based organization established in 2012 with a mission to improve the lives and well-being of Intersex, Transgender, and Gender Non-Conforming (ITGNC) individuals in Kenya. Our name, derived from the Swahili words 'jinsia yangu,' meaning my gender, reflects our commitment to promoting diversity and equality. At Jinsiangu, we strive to create safe spaces, advocate for the rights of ITGNC individuals, and provide them with essential resources and support.
Our services include psycho-social support, ITGNC-friendly counseling, and the establishment of safe spaces. We also engage with professionals, state officials, and service providers to change discriminatory policies and prejudices against ITGNC people while fostering awareness and understanding within the LGBTI community and society at large. Our vision is a Kenya that celebrates and respects diversity, where all individuals have bodily autonomy, freedom, justice, and access to their fundamental needs.
Jinsiangu is dedicated to achieving this vision through effective and reliable care and support, advocating for fundamental needs, developing knowledge, and creating awareness of ITGNC individuals' experiences in Kenya
