Jiu Jitsu 1st is a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu club in Miramar, Wellington, New Zealand, affiliated with Combat Room Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Led by black belt instructor Dave Preciado, the club welcomes beginners, experienced practitioners and competitors in a respectful, supportive environment grounded in traditional jiu jitsu values. Training includes gi and no-gi classes for all levels, members’ open mats, competition preparation and Saturday gi classes for children aged 6 to 15.
Kids’ programmes run during school terms. The club also offers private lessons tailored to individual goals, from learning the basics to refining positions and submissions. Members can access three weekly classes, open mats, gym weights and competition preparation planning; casual drop-ins are available for visitors.
Classes take place in a purpose-designed mat space with a floating floor system intended to make training more comfortable for joints. Jiu Jitsu 1st also hosts events and shares technique videos and jiu jitsu news. Its approach combines practical skill development with respect for instructors, training partners and the traditions of the art
