About Juvenile Law Center
Juvenile Law Center is a brand that fights for the rights, dignity, equity, and opportunity of youth. They are dedicated to reducing the harm caused by the child welfare and justice systems and ultimately working towards their abolition, so that young people can thrive. Founded in 1975, Juvenile Law Center was the country's first nonprofit, public interest law firm specifically for children.
They employ various approaches, including legal advocacy, policy advocacy, youth-led advocacy, and strategic communications, to accomplish their mission. Their strategies are interconnected, pairing impact litigation with policy advocacy and community outreach for lasting and transformative change. Juvenile Law Center's work is informed by and often done in collaboration with youth, family members, and grassroots partners.
They strive to ensure that laws, policies, and practices affecting youth prioritize racial and economic equity and are consistent with the unique developmental characteristics and human dignity of children. Their vision is to create an anti-racist world that treats children like children and allows them to thrive in their families and communities
