About JLSM
Nihongo Kyogkai, also known as the Japanese Language Society of Malaysia (JLSM), was established in 1968 with the aim of fostering a deeper understanding and closer relationships between the people of Malaysia and Japan. Over the years, JLSM has been actively promoting the learning of the Japanese language among Malaysians. In addition to language learning, JLSM expanded its activities in the late 90s to include homestay programs in Japan and the promotion of Japanese culture through various public events.
One of JLSM's notable events is the Annual Japanese Language Festival (JLfest), which has been held since 2006 in Malaysia. The society's mission is to bring people from Malaysia, Japan, and all over the world together through the learning and promotion of the Japanese language and culture. They believe that language serves as a foundation for meaningful interactions between people, culture, and the arts.
JLSM is managed by a dedicated team of Executive Committee members, who are volunteers, along with full-time staff. The society offers a platform for purposeful interactions, Japanese language and cultural appreciation collaborations, and aims to enhance the personal and career development of its members. As a member of the JF Nihongo Network (Sakura Network) since 2015, JLSM is committed to providing high-quality Japanese language education and fostering a thriving community of learners.
For those interested in contacting JLSM, they can be reached via email, phone, or WhatsApp during their operating hours from Monday to Friday
