About Књажевско-српски театар
The Knjaževsko-Srpski Theatre, located in Kragujevac, Serbia, is a renowned institution with a rich history in the country's theatrical arts. Founded in the 19th century by Joakim Vujić, the theater has evolved into a modern and contemporary venue, offering a diverse repertoire and innovative stage treatments. The International Theatre Festival - JoakimInterFest, now known as Joakimfest, was established in 2006 to enhance the theater scene in the region and introduce audiences to new theatrical trends.
Over the years, the festival has showcased over 150 performances from 25 countries, featuring more than 700 theater creators. Joakimfest celebrates and promotes aesthetically sophisticated and socially responsible theater, addressing relevant issues and phenomena of our time. It has become a platform for both established and emerging theater artists to showcase their talent.
The festival features an international jury that awards the Grand Prix "Joakim Vujić" for the best overall performance, fostering the growth and development of the art form. The Princely-Serbian Theatre hosts and organizes the festival, with the support of the City of Kragujevac as the main sponsor
