Jo Borthwick

Jo Borthwick Swimming Tuition is a mobile swim school offering Swim England-accredited lessons for children and adults of all abilities at locations across Wiltshire. Its courses include small-group classes, one-to-one tuition, adult lessons and intensive holiday programmes. Weekly term-time lessons follow the County school calendar, with additional courses during school holidays. Sessions take place at Marlborough College Pool and, during summer, at other private pools.

The school focuses on water safety and confidence as well as swimming technique. In beginner lessons, instructors teach in the water, helping pupils develop skills and become more comfortable and independent. Self-rescue is a priority: pupils are taught to rotate and float before progressing to strokes, and lessons do not use flotation aids such as armbands, fins or life jackets. Small classes support focused teaching, with a maximum of eight swimmers in advanced groups, while one-to-one lessons offer individual tuition. Courses are tailored to each pupil’s ability and learning needs, with the aim of building capable, confident swimmers.
