JOENSUUN PARAFEST

Joensuun Parafest is an annual, three-day arts and culture festival in Joensuu, Finland, celebrating the work of para-artists and making their creations visible, audible and accessible to the public. Organized by Joensuun Parafest Association, the festival brings together performances and activities across a range of art forms, including visual art, theatre, music, poetry, literature, seminars and film. Its program also features exhibitions and literary events, offering visitors a varied cultural experience.

All festival events are free of charge and accessible, reflecting the guiding message that culture belongs to everyone. The festival takes place in August at central Joensuu venues, including Ilosaari, Art Centre Ahjo, Joensuu Main Library and the market square stage. The 2026 event is scheduled for August 12–14.

Joensuun Parafest Association has received the North Karelia Arts Council’s 2013 Cultural Achievement recognition and the City of Joensuu’s 2013 Culture Award. The organization shares updates and festival content through Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
