About DNS4EU
DNS4EU is a pioneering initiative launched by the European Commission, designed to establish a secure and privacy-compliant DNS resolver as an alternative to the currently dominant public DNS services. By enhancing the European Union's digital sovereignty, DNS4EU aims to provide robust DNS security for public institutions, telecommunications providers, and essential services such as healthcare and education. The project is spearheaded by Whalebone, alongside an international consortium of cybersecurity firms and academic institutions from ten EU countries.
DNS4EU offers varied solutions tailored to different audiences. It features a public DNS resolver that delivers basic security protection for end-users, as well as advanced options for governments and telecommunications companies, ensuring comprehensive protection across multiple organizations. A unique aspect of DNS4EU is its capacity for regional threat intelligence, allowing for rapid response to cyber threats across borders. Launched in January 2023 with EU backing, DNS4EU represents a significant step towards a resilient and autonomous digital infrastructure for European citizens and organizations alike.
