We combine our love for (board) gaming and entrepreneurial spirit to develop new games, specifically looking to bring together families and friends for a jolly evening. Jolly Dutch Productions is a brand born out of a love for board games, bringing families together, and a passion for entrepreneurship. Founded in December 2017 by Alexander and Arnold, who grew up playing board games and wanted to contribute to the world of tabletop gaming. Jolly Dutch games are cheerful, not too lengthy, and easy to understand.
Alexander focuses on game mechanisms and player experience, while Arnold takes care of marketing, sales, and game production. Jolly Dutch works closely with talented co-authors and illustrators to create their games. Chartered: The Golden Age, a game descended from Kramer's Big Boss, was co-authored by Wolfgang Kramer.
Inge van Dasselaar co-authored Herrlof, her debut game. The artwork for the first two Jolly Dutch games was created by Henk-Jan Hoogendoorn and Tristam Rossin respectively. After the successful crowdfunding campaign for Chartered, Jolly Dutch released their second game, Boogie Beasts.
Following its release, the third game, Herrlof, was launched on Kickstarter and exceeded its funding goal by over 1,300%. Herrlof is a two-player trick-taking card game set in the Viking era, nominated for Toy of the Year 2020. Jolly Dutch continues to work on new game ideas, both big and small, collaborating with both internal and external authors.
