Stiftelsen Finlandssvenska Jordfonden is a Finnish-Swedish foundation established in 1946 to strengthen agriculture in Swedish-speaking areas of Finland. Its purpose is to improve the conditions for farming and support rural enterprise through grants, loans and other initiatives that benefit agriculture in Svenskfinland. The foundation awards grants to projects that align with its mission and can provide loans to rural entrepreneurs for purchasing agricultural property.
It also offers loans to young farmers during farm generational transfers or when they buy additional farmland. In keeping with its statutes, the foundation supports Swedish-language schools active in agricultural and horticultural education, as well as their students, and may take other measures to promote agriculture in the region. Applications may be submitted throughout the year in a freely written format; larger projects should include a cost estimate.
The foundation is a member of Stiftelser och fonder rf and states that it follows good foundation practice. Through its funding and support, Jordfonden aims to help sustain farming and agricultural education in Finland’s Swedish-speaking communities
