Josef Průša is a 3D printer developer and advocate for open-source hardware. Since 2009, he has designed and built printers through the RepRap project, making his work freely available for use. RepRap printers can produce some of the components needed for other printers, and tens of thousands of machines bearing his name are in use around the world. His work includes the Prusa Mendel and Prusa Mendel i3, and the site also points visitors to projects such as Slic3r.
Alongside developing printers, Průša gives talks on 3D printing and open hardware at events including TEDx Prague, TEDx Vienna, World Maker Faire New York, the Open Hardware Summit at MIT, and Maker Faire Rome. He teaches Arduino at Charles University in Prague and consults with individuals and companies on adopting and using 3D printing. Through Prusa Research, customers in the Czech Republic can purchase printers either as kits for self-assembly or professionally assembled models with a warranty.
