Joshua Roman

Joshua Roman is an American cellist, composer, and curator whose career brings together classical performance, adventurous programming, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Praised for his expressive playing and exploratory spirit, he appears as a cello soloist with orchestras and in chamber music ensembles. His ongoing trio with violinist Tessa Lark and double bassist Edgar Meyer presents thoughtfully selected programs, while his work as a curator connects artists and audiences through music.

Roman also composes for chamber ensembles. His forthcoming album on Phenotypic Recordings, scheduled for spring 2027, will be his first collection devoted entirely to his own compositions and will feature collaborators including Yo-Yo Ma and the JACK Quartet. His recorded and video work includes performances such as Riding Light, The Little Cello Boy, and selections from Bach’s cello suites.

Beyond the concert stage, Roman explores the relationship between the arts and wellbeing and advocates for neuroarts. Through residencies, speaking engagements, and institutional collaborations, he contributes to conversations spanning medicine, research, public policy, and academia.
