Joule Medical is developing Joule, a next-generation automated external defibrillator (AED) designed to make life-saving equipment more accessible and available closer to where cardiac emergencies happen. The company aims to create one of the world’s smallest AEDs, with a compact, lightweight form intended for use at home, in cars, and on the go. Joule is being designed for ordinary people, with a two-button interface and voice and light instructions to guide users through each step.
Its durable shell is intended to protect the device during everyday transport. Joule Medical estimates a price of around €1,000, aiming to make the device more affordable than many traditional AEDs. The product is under development, with launch targeted for 2027, and is not yet CE marked or available for sale in the EU.
Development draws on experienced industry partners for defibrillator engineering, electronics manufacturing, electrodes, and regulatory processes. Joule Medical also invites prospective supporters to sign up for updates and express non-binding investment interest through crowdfunding
