About Joyland
Joyland Publishing is an independent nonprofit organization devoted to the art of storytelling, operating under the belief that fiction transcends borders and thrives within local communities. Established in 2008 by Emily Schultz and Brian J Davis, Joyland Magazine is an acclaimed online literary journal that has garnered recognition, with stories featured in prestigious collections like Best American Short Stories and the Journey Prize Anthology. In 2025, Joyland expanded its reach by launching Joyland Editions, a small press dedicated to publishing two exceptional novellas annually, edited by a talented team led by Madeleine Crum and Michelle Lyn King.
Joyland Publishing actively participates in the Community of Literary Magazines & Presses and is committed to supporting cultural initiatives, including the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel. The organization encourages aspiring writers to submit their work during designated submission windows for both the magazine and editions, fostering literary creativity and community engagement
