Junior Oly

Sprague Basketball’s Junior Oly’s program is a youth basketball initiative in Salem, Oregon, designed to help young players grow on and off the court. The program aims to build a positive community where future Olympians can develop basketball skills, character, work ethic, and life skills that serve them beyond the game.

Participants can expect a basketball-focused season, typically running from November through March, though timing may vary by team. The program includes at least two practices each week and six high-level tournaments around Oregon. Training also emphasizes skill and athletic development, with a focus on helping players become better athletes rather than simply prioritizing wins. Junior Oly players are added to the contact list for Sprague Basketball’s offseason camps and clinics.

Coaches, staff, and trainers also stress integrity and academic achievement. Sprague High School coaches select teams with input from youth coaches, and players may sit behind the varsity bench and meet team members.
