J R Young Health Equity Institute

J R Young Health Equity Institute is a Black-owned charitable organization founded in March 2022 by Dr. Geraldine Q. Young, DNP, and based in the Mississippi Delta. Its mission is to reduce educational and health disparities through inclusive, culturally competent education and care. The institute brings together the Office of Health Equity Education and the College of Diverse Education, Health, and Wellness Sciences, serving students, families, healthcare professionals, communities, and organizations.

Its offerings include educational equity and health equity services, interprofessional education, and health equity, nursing, and public health programs with an emphasis on affordability, inclusion, critical thinking, and antiracist teaching. The institute also provides clinical services across the lifespan, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, in collaboration with partners. Services are designed around patients, families, students, faculty, communities, and organizations, and all major health insurance plans are accepted. Preceptorships and mentorships are also available. Through education, research, clinical practice, and partnerships, the institute aims to advance equitable outcomes in the Mississippi Delta and beyond.
