Heiwashinkai Jujutsu is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dojo in Vancleave, Mississippi, serving youth, adults, veterans, and the wider Gulf Coast community. The organization teaches traditional Japanese jujutsu, emphasizing discipline, fitness, self-defense, and personal safety rather than sport or mixed martial arts. Classes are available for students ages five and up, with sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays.
Alongside its regular jujutsu instruction, Heiwashinkai offers Grappling With PTSD, an adaptive program developed by disabled veteran instructors to support physical and mental rehabilitation through movement. The dojo also provides community outreach and volunteer support for law enforcement, first responders, and nonprofit organizations across Mississippi. Its instructors include David Wilson, a Godan (fifth-degree black belt), and other black belt teachers.
Heiwashinkai is community-funded and relies on donations, sponsorships, and volunteers to keep its programs operating. It welcomes people to observe or participate, and offers enrollment and donation options. The dojo is a member organization of the United States Ju-Jitsu Federation.
