Instituto del Desarrollo de la Juventud (IDJ) is the only organization in Puerto Rico dedicated to promoting research and public policies that aim to strengthen the economic security of families with children and youth, with the ultimate goal of dramatically reducing child poverty on the island. Our mission is to provide all individuals with the opportunities that allow them to escape poverty and live in economically secure households. We offer a range of products and services to achieve this mission.

Our efforts include the publication of data, such as the Index of Child and Youth Well-being in Puerto Rico, which increases general awareness of the challenges faced by children and youth living in poverty. We conduct research to gain a deeper understanding of the issue and develop possible solutions. Based on our research, we develop policy recommendations and advocate for change.
