About Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation
The Jaime V. Ongpin Foundation, Inc. Originally known as the Benguetcorp Foundation, it was founded in honor of Jaime V.
Ongpin, the company's first Filipino president, who envisioned the development of self-reliant communities. Initially focused on implementing development projects in mining camps, the Foundation expanded its operations to other areas in need of assistance in the late 1980s. In 1997, it gained financial independence from Benguet Corporation.
To comply with regulatory requirements, the Foundation established the Jaime V. Ongpin Microfinance Foundation, Inc. Registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Bureau of Internal Revenue, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, the Foundation collaborates with local and foreign donors, businesses, government agencies, NGOs, and people's organizations to pursue development programs within its target communities.
