Kaihatsu-Do

Kaihatsu-Do is a Shotokan karate school whose name means “the path of development.” The school welcomes people of all ages and experience levels, offering lessons where students can develop at their own pace. Its teaching focuses on traditional Shotokan Karate-Do, with an emphasis on physical and personal growth. Training can help students improve fitness, flexibility, speed, strength, concentration, reaction ability, confidence, and self-control.

People interested in trying karate can attend two free, no-obligation trial lessons. Comfortable clothing is recommended, and training is done barefoot. Kaihatsu-Do is affiliated with the Karate-do Bond Nederland (KBN), whose membership is required for students registering for belt examinations at the school. Kyu and dan grades are recorded in a karate passport. The school is also affiliated with JKS Benelux and, through it, the original Japan Karate Shoto Federation (JKS), supporting its commitment to teaching traditional Shotokan karate. The school’s logo reflects this philosophy: a Japanese torii represents entry into traditional Karate-Do, while its stones symbolize stages along a student’s path of development.
