Kaizen Aikido

Kaizen Aikido is a traditional, Aikikai-affiliated dojo in Melbourne, Australia, offering aikido classes for children and teenagers. The school welcomes beginners as well as more experienced students, and holds sessions twice a week: Tuesday afternoons in West Coburg and Saturday mornings in Clifton Hill. Its classes introduce students to traditional, precise aikido techniques, including throwing and pinning methods used in response to attacks from the front or behind.

Through training, children and teens can develop awareness, self-confidence, coordination, fitness, and practical self-defence skills. The dojo also emphasizes power, harmony, and ki, described as spirit energy, alongside the study of aikido as an honourable martial art. Kaizen Aikido welcomes students from diverse backgrounds and orientations, and states that children’s safety is its number one priority. Parents and children are welcome to take part in the school’s learning community. For families interested in Japanese martial arts, Kaizen Aikido offers a supportive setting to explore aikido and build skills through regular practice.
