Kajukenbo Combatives is a martial arts and self-defense program in Germany that develops the traditional Kajukenbo system for modern training and practical personal defense. Founded in Hawaii between 1947 and 1949, Kajukenbo combines elements of Karate, Judo, Jiu Jitsu, Kenpo, Chinese boxing and Kung Fu, as well as Escrima. Its founding principle is to retain techniques that prove effective in real situations, while adapting the system over time.
The German program is led by Michael Nitz, a Kajukenbo Sifu and third-degree black belt, who has expanded the Hard-Style curriculum with Escrima, grappling and stand-up fighting, including kickboxing. Training covers movement, punches, kicks, knees and elbows, self-defense against punches, grabs, kicks, sticks and knives, and weapons drills with single and double sticks. Students progress through colored-belt levels, beginning with core techniques and advancing to combinations, coordination exercises, Escrima forms and grappling basics. The organization offers training in Berlin and other locations, along with group leader training and a free introductory session.
