Kali Lontayao

Kali Lontayao is a martial arts organisation in Berlin dedicated to teaching Kali, a traditional Filipino stick-fighting art. Led by Professor Tom Esser, the organisation offers training that combines practical self-defence with physical, mental and spiritual development. Kali is presented as a soft-hard style, incorporating techniques both with and without weapons, alongside playful and rhythmic elements. Students develop coordination, grounding, personal boundaries, presence and responsibility through practice.

Professor Esser has studied various martial arts since childhood and later focused exclusively on Filipino martial arts. He holds an eighth dan and represents the Lontayao Martial Arts Organisation in Germany. Training takes place twice a week in Berlin, offering participants the opportunity to learn the principles and practice of Kali in a structured setting. The website also shares current news and information about the organisation’s lineage and provides background on Professor Esser. Prospective students and visitors can contact the organisation with questions through its online contact form.
