Kali also runs Writer Development Programs for aspiring and experienced playwrights, empowering them to bring taboo issues into the public domain and inspire open discussions.

With a mission to transform the theater landscape and better reflect the diversity of modern Britain, Kali has made a significant contribution to putting greater diversity into British theater, both onstage and backstage. They have presented 64% of the 32 plays by South Asian women writers between 2011 and 2016, according to the British Library Playscript catalogue. Their work extends beyond London, reaching out to diverse audiences throughout the UK.

In the past four years alone, they have presented 34 new plays in 219 performances, engaging over 16,000 people. Kali consistently attracts high levels of South Asian attendees, surpassing the South Asian UK average population by a staggering seven times. Kali also plays a vital role in developing and nurturing talent, with writers such as Naylah Ahmed and Iman Qureshi going on to write for other theater companies and TV and radio.

They provide leading roles for South Asian actors, inspiring more diverse casting, and offer directing opportunities and training for female theater directors of South Asian descent. As an Arts Council England National Portfolio Organization, Kali is recognized for its groundbreaking and thought-provoking theater that challenges perceptions and reflects the lives of South Asian women in modern Britain. They actively seek out original writers who challenge preconceived notions and present memorable theater based on innovative ideas.
