About Kammerorchester Basel
The Basel Chamber Orchestra is an internationally acclaimed ensemble that is firmly rooted in Basel, Switzerland. With two subscription series at the Stadtcasino Basel and its own rehearsal and performance venue, the Don Bosco Basel, the orchestra offers a diverse range of musical experiences. The orchestra consists of 47 musicians who present more than 60 concerts per season, both at home and on international stages.
They are known for their historically informed interpretations and have received numerous awards for their exceptional quality. Collaborating with renowned soloists such as Maria João Pires and Jan Lisiecki, the Basel Chamber Orchestra presents a broad repertoire that spans from early music on period instruments to contemporary works. They also commission new compositions and participate in the Basel Composition Competition.
In addition to their performances, the orchestra is dedicated to outreach work, engaging with children and young people through participatory projects. With their innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, the Basel Chamber Orchestra continues to break new ground in the world of classical music
