KangaCAM

KangaCAM is a platform designed to help hospitals capture meaningful memories of babies in neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). It enables staff and families to create precious images during skin-to-skin care and other milestones, helping parents celebrate moments that can otherwise be difficult to experience when a newborn is hospitalized. The service is built around the value of kangaroo care, a skin-to-skin practice associated with benefits for preterm and low-birth-weight newborns, including improved breathing and heart rate, bonding, weight gain, and potentially earlier hospital discharge.

KangaCAM also offers a hospital-focused benefit: each photo can feature the hospital’s logo, so families can share the images with friends and relatives on social media. The platform’s website shares parent feedback and information from research on kangaroo mother care and neonatal outcomes, as well as commentary from an experienced NICU nurse. KangaCAM presents its service as a way for hospitals to support family connection and preserve important memories during a baby’s NICU stay
