About Minna Canthin talo
Kanttila is a cultural initiative aimed at preserving Minna Canth's former home and business premises while transforming it into an international residency center. Minna Canth (1844-1897) was a prominent influencer in Finland and a pioneer of Finnish literature and journalism. The restoration project in Kuopio aims to revitalize the culturally significant building and create the Minna Canth Academy to promote free speech and equality.
Kanttila, one of Kuopio's oldest buildings, has historical significance as the location of the first bookstore in Central Finland and Minna Canth's residence.
