Kappler Fasnacht

Kappler Fasnacht is the traditional carnival celebration organized by Narrenzunft 1811 Kappelrodeck e.V. in Kappelrodeck, on the edge of the Black Forest. Celebrated since 1811, it is also known locally as “Fasnacht in klein Paris” and is described as the oldest carnival guild in Mittelbaden. The tradition centers on community, humor, creativity, and distinctive handmade costumes rather than formal carnival speeches or large-scale events.

The guild’s “Schudi” performers bring the festivities to life through Schudiabende, visiting local inns to present humorous performances. The program also features lively street processions, including Hexenumzüge and larger wagon parades, with colorful costumes and lovingly designed floats. The organization coordinates the celebration through its 25-member Elferrat, which helps manage schedules and procession arrangements.

Kappler Fasnacht shares event dates, procession details, updates, and photographs through its website and social media. Its annual calendar includes gatherings such as the opening celebration, costume-market events, parades, and the closing Schudiverbrennung, inviting residents and visitors to experience a longstanding local tradition together.
