About Karamoor Estate Wine
Karamoor Estate is a renowned winery located in Philadelphia's suburbs, dedicated to crafting exceptional wines that capture the unique essence of Pennsylvania soil. The brand's story began in the early 80s when Nick and Athena Karabots purchased Oxmoor Estate, combining their last name with Oxmoor to create Karamoor, which loosely translates to my happiness in Greek. In 2003, the Karabotses envisioned a way to share their happiness with others by growing grapes on Karamoor's farmland and producing world-class wine.
Working with renowned viticulturist Lucie Morton, they planted their first 12 acres in 2006, followed by additional acres in 2008 and 2013. Karamoor Estate prides itself on using 100% estate-grown grapes, including noble varieties like Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Petit Verdot. With a commitment to quality and family, the brand's vineyard, spanning 27 acres, consists of meticulously maintained vinifera vines.
