Saddler/Strong’s AZ Uechi-Ryu Karate is a Phoenix dojo teaching the traditional Chinese-Okinawan martial art of Uechi-Ryu to students of all ages. With a long history of instruction in the area, the school welcomes anyone interested in learning; no prior experience or prerequisites are required. Its approach treats karate as an art form and emphasizes practical self-defense, accurate technique, and the development of proper stances and form.

Students apply their skills through training rather than competing against one another, and progress is guided by individual ability, attitude, and effort. The dojo also aims to support mind-body harmony and awareness through practice. New students are introduced to traditional dojo etiquette and take part in stretching, then work with an instructor on foundational stances and strikes.

The school offers classes, with schedules and rates available, and invites prospective students to consult a Black Belt instructor about their goals and training. Visitors can also learn about the Uechi-Ryu style, its history, ranks, and instructors through the dojo’s website
