Bund Deutscher Karneval e.V.

Bund Deutscher Karneval e.V. (BDK) is the national umbrella organization representing more than 5,300 carnival clubs and over 2.6 million members. It works to preserve and promote the traditions of Fasching, Fastnacht, and Karneval as an important part of German culture, supporting clubs and regional associations across the country.

The BDK provides organizational, educational, and cultural support for its members. Its activities include training and professional development, guidance on association administration and finances, public relations, and resources for inclusion and integration. Through the Deutsche FastnachtAkademie and Deutsches FastnachtMuseum, it contributes to learning about carnival culture and its history. The organization also supports carnival dance, including guard dance, show dance, and solo performance, and runs tournaments that encourage talent and community participation. Its calendar features regional and national competitions, meetings, and youth events. The BDK shares news, publishes a magazine, offers a members’ portal, and recognizes contributions to carnival through awards and honors. By connecting clubs, institutions, and regional bodies, it helps keep carnival customs active and visible.
