Karrekieltjes

C.V. de Karrekieltjes is a carnival association based in Waalwijk, the Dutch town known as Schoenlapperslaand during carnival. Founded in 1982 and named after its original home, Herberg het Karrewiel, the group brings together around 30 enthusiastic carnival-goers. Its current residence is Stadsbrouwerij St. Crispijn, where members meet and celebrate from 2026 onward.

The association helps make the local carnival a success by organising and supporting activities, while keeping community, participation and fun at the heart of its programme. Its annual Playbackshow is a long-running highlight and traditionally opens the carnival festivities. First held for members in 1984, the show became a public event at the Karrewiel in 1987 and continues to welcome both familiar and new performers.

The Karrekieltjes also take part in the Schoenlapperslaand parade, appearing as a walking group or with a float. Over the years, their varied events have included concerts and fishing outings. With a history spanning more than four decades, the association continues to celebrate and support Waalwijk’s carnival traditions.
