Kaleya Smallholders Company Ltd is Zambia's largest smallholder sugarcane producer, focusing on creating a profitable out-grower scheme that produces high-quality agricultural products. Established in 1980, Kascol operates as a private limited company with 160 smallholders and a nucleus estate dedicated to sugarcane cultivation in the north eastern Kafue Flats region. The company, originally part of a government initiative, has since been privatized, with smallholders now holding a 12.
5% stake. In addition to sugarcane, Kascol also grows barley, macadamia, and soya beans. Kascol has received grants for various projects, such as tree planting initiatives to combat erosion and water retention efforts.
