About Kashkul
Kashkul is the Center for Arts and Culture at the American University of Iraq, Sulaimani. Founded in 2016, Kashkul brings together Kurdish, Iraqi, and international scholars to study, create, preserve, and translate culture. With a focus on cultural creation and preservation, Kashkul is at the forefront of curating groundbreaking arts exhibitions, hosting local and international artists, and facilitating a diverse range of events.
Not only does Kashkul emphasize oral history collection and amplification of existing regional preservation efforts, but it also plays a crucial role in literary translation. In addition to their ongoing projects, Kashkul invites you to join them from September 8-11, 2023, for the inaugural Sulaimani Festival for Culture & Art. This festival will celebrate the richness of human culture through music and melodies from the Kurdistan Region, Iraq, and the wider Middle East.
