Warkauden Kassiopeia

Warkauden Kassiopeia ry is a nonprofit astronomical society based in the Varkaus region of Finland. Founded in 2001, it promotes interest in astronomy and supports astronomy education, bringing together around 90 members. Its main facility is Härkämäki Observatory, located about 35 kilometres from Varkaus. Observatory operations began in 2004, and the site has since grown to include additional observing facilities, a warm support building, a campfire shelter, a hut and a clubhouse.

The society provides access to a substantial range of astronomical equipment, including Meade and Celestron telescopes, a 14.5-inch Newtonian telescope, refracting telescopes, binoculars and cameras used for astronomical imaging. Its activities include public observing evenings, courses, children’s astronomy clubs and science workshops, as well as observing projects and publications.
