Katefriends is a legally established, nonprofit association based in Oeiras, Portugal, dedicated to protecting, rehabilitating and rehoming rescued greyhounds. It rescues dogs within Portugal, many affected by abandonment, mistreatment or trauma, and provides veterinary care and support to help them recover and prepare for family life. Because the association does not have its own shelter, temporary foster families play an essential role in caring for and socialising the dogs. Katefriends seeks suitable, responsible adopters through a personalised adoption process. Adoptions take place in Portugal; international adopters must travel there and arrange the animal’s adoption and transport themselves.

Beyond rescue and adoption, the association works to combat animal cruelty and invites people to help through fostering, volunteering, transport assistance and donations. Its fundraising activities include a solidarity online shop, where products such as collars, leads, clothing, harnesses, accessories, blankets and merchandise are offered, with profits supporting its mission. Katefriends also organises campaigns and events to raise funds for a future shelter and a safe animal transport vehicle.
