The Roman Catholic Church in Aargau is a regional church community serving around 185,000 Catholics across 92 parishes and eight missions for people of different language communities. Organised through a dual structure, it brings together pastoral work in parishes and specialist services provided by the Landeskirche, the church’s cantonal organisation. Around 10,000 volunteers contribute more than 1.5 million hours of service each year, supporting local church life throughout the canton.
The Church offers pastoral care and practical support for people in need, families, young people, adults, volunteers and church staff. Its specialist departments cover social services, education, youth and young adults, catechesis and media, and specialised pastoral care. It also provides training, guidance and resources for church communities, and addresses issues such as safeguarding and environmental responsibility. Public events, courses and initiatives encourage participation and connection, while projects including “Fit für die Zukunft” help shape the Church’s future role. Its activities are carried out in cooperation with the Diocese, parishes and local church communities.
