About Katy Yocom
Katy Yocom is an author whose work explores family relationships, cultural connections, and humanity’s ties to the natural world. Her debut novel, Three Ways to Disappear, is environmental fiction centered on endangered Bengal tigers and two sisters confronting a painful shared past. Sarah, a former journalist, returns to India to work in tiger conservation, while her sister Quinn remains in Kentucky, facing family challenges of her own.
Their stories bring together conservation, local politics, cultural conflict, and the complexities of sisterhood, love, and forgiveness. Set across India and the United States, the novel reflects on the fragility of wildlife and human relationships, and the risks involved in trying to protect what matters. Yocom’s writing has received recognition from literary organizations and publications, including the Siskiyou Prize for New Environmental Literature, the Phillip H.
McMath Post-Publication Book Award, and the Micro Press Award. Her book has also appeared on multiple prize lists and received praise for its vivid sense of place, carefully researched setting, and engaging characters
