Kaukasisch(es) Berlin is a digital reference work documenting the lives and communities of Caucasian emigrants in Berlin between the two world wars. Its project focuses on a relatively small population, likely no more than 1,000 people at any one time, many of whom left or did not return to the Caucasus after its Sovietization in 1920–21. The site explores their professional, political, cultural and social lives, including the businesses, restaurants, associations, concerts and theatre events they established.

It also addresses Berlin’s role as a center for anti-Soviet Caucasian movements after the Nazi rise to power. Rather than treating the city merely as a backdrop for a few prominent figures, the reference work aims to present the broader experience of the émigré community. Its resources include databases of short biographies, businesses and associations, alongside introductory material and a map.

These tools are intended to help users investigate arrivals, livelihoods, personal connections and the effects of political upheaval and war. The databases are still at an early stage and are being expanded
