YAKAD, which stands for Yakınlarını Kaybetmiş Aileler Derneği (Association of Families Who Have Lost Loved Ones), is a dedicated Turkish organization that provides support and hope to families of missing persons. Established to address the emotional and social challenges faced by these families, YAKAD utilizes innovative solutions such as an image aging program developed with forensic experts to recreate the current appearances of missing individuals. This initiative has successfully updated the images of cases such as Ahmet Tarı and Ebru Gönül, who went missing in 1999 and 1997, respectively.
YAKAD also spearheads community awareness campaigns like “Çocuklarımız Kaybolmasın” to educate the public on preventing child disappearances. Throughout its efforts, YAKAD has implemented projects like the "Umut Otobüsü," which has aided in finding over 900 missing persons across Turkey. With a mission to advocate for legislative changes and support for affected families, YAKAD remains a vital resource for those navigating the complex journey of loss and hope.
