KC Academy was founded in 2021 by Kadeena Cox, drawing on her experience moving from track and field into cycling. The organisation works to bring greater diversity to elite cycling, responding to the barriers Cox observed in a sport with limited representation of Black British riders at its highest levels. Its purpose is to help aspiring cyclists from diverse ethnic communities enter and progress in the sport, with a focus on inspiration, access and practical support.
KC Academy provides inspiring content and opportunities for current and future riders, alongside funding, mentoring and guidance for talented individuals developing along the cycling pathway. Through these activities, it aims to address gaps in visibility, opportunity and support rather than a lack of ability or potential. The academy’s work is grounded in Cox’s belief that success depends on inspiration, opportunity and support. By backing riders and helping them access routes into cycling, KC Academy seeks to contribute to a more inclusive future for the sport. The organisation is supported by Summus Sports Group.
