About KCCR Radio
KCCR, also known as Capitol City Radio, has been a cornerstone of Pierre, South Dakota’s broadcasting landscape since its inception on February 4, 1959. Originally located above the Harding Ford Garage, KCCR-AM has evolved into a staple for the community, now broadcasting from 106 West Capital Avenue. The station is well-loved for its engaging on-air personalities, who often interact with listeners passing by its studio.
Under the ownership of Riverfront Broadcasting since 2008, KCCR operates alongside KLXS-FM, making them the only locally owned radio stations in the area. KCCR's programming has shifted over the years, currently focusing on a vibrant hot country format, while KLXS-FM presents an active rock experience not found elsewhere in Central South Dakota. Both stations provide a mix of local news, sports coverage, and entertainment, while also offering unique community engagement opportunities through events and listener interaction.
