About KEEP
Kathmandu Environmental Education Project (KEEP) is a pioneering non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable tourism and community development in Nepal. Established in 1992, KEEP aims to ensure the ecological and cultural prosperity of Nepal by educating trekking professionals and mitigating the adverse impacts of tourism. Their comprehensive programs include Eco-Tourism Capacity Building, environmental awareness initiatives, porters' welfare schemes, and rural community development projects.
KEEP is actively involved in training endeavors such as Wilderness First Aid Courses and English language classes tailored for tourism professionals, fostering both personal and professional growth. Additionally, the organization supports Minimal Impact Travel (MIT) initiatives to guide responsible tourism practices that prioritize local culture and the environment. Through significant projects like the Sarshyu Drinking Water Supply Project and partnerships aimed at improving educational facilities, KEEP is making a measurable impact on local communities. Engaging volunteers and stakeholders, KEEP promotes a culture of sustainable practices, enhancing the travel experience while preserving the beauty and heritage of Nepal.
