Kehlkopfoperierten RLP

The Landesverband der Kehlkopfoperierten Rheinland-Pfalz/Saarland e.V. is a nonprofit self-help association based in Mainz, supporting people affected by laryngeal and other head and neck cancers, as well as their families and close supporters. Founded in 1975, it expanded in January 2026 through the integration of the Saarland association. Its network includes regional associations and local self-help groups across both states.

The organization offers advice and ongoing support before and after cancer treatment, including during recovery. Its rehabilitation guidance addresses replacement speech methods such as speech valves, esophageal speech and electrolarynx use, alongside speech and swallowing difficulties and pulmonary function. The association also aims to help members pursue social and vocational reintegration, understand treatment and its effects, and connect with others facing similar experiences. It represents members’ interests and works with medical, scientific, public and private organizations. By bringing affected people and their supporters together, the association promotes participation, self-determination and mutual understanding.
