Kenbukan Australia is a Canberra-based Goju Ryu karate dojo and Australian branch of the Okinawa Karate Do Kenpo Kai. It offers traditional karate training for children aged five and above, teenagers, and adults, with classes held at Holy Family Primary School in Gowrie and PCYC Erindale. Saturday training is available by invitation.
Led by instructors Adam and Kayla Ball, the dojo draws on their years of practice and teaching, training in Okinawa, and connection to senior instructor Kuba Yoshio. Both are branch chiefs of the Okinawa Karate Do Kenpo Kai in Australia. The school follows a lineage from Goju Ryu founder Miyagi Chojun through Toguchi Seikichi and Kuba Yoshio.
Training covers Goju Ryu’s blend of hard and soft techniques, including strikes, blocks, grappling, takedowns, throws, and joint locks. Alongside practical martial arts skills and self-defense, classes emphasize discipline, respect, focus, resilience, and personal development. Kenbukan Australia presents karate as a lifelong practice, combining traditional teachings with a supportive community for students of varied ages and experience.
