EIS

EIS Kenniscentrum Insecten is a Dutch nonprofit knowledge centre dedicated to documenting and supporting the conservation of insects and other invertebrates in the Netherlands. Working with specialists and volunteer observers, it gathers information on species, their distribution and ecology, and shares this knowledge with researchers, nature enthusiasts and the wider public. Its work covers more than 22,000 insect and invertebrate species found in the country.

The organisation offers species identification support, from beginner-friendly identification guides to advanced reference tables, as well as lectures, workshops and courses. Its professional services include surveys, monitoring, advice on biodiversity-friendly land management, and work related to exotic species, habitat management and species protection. EIS also produces magazines, scientific publications, posters and other educational materials, available through its publications and online shop.

People can contribute by recording sightings, joining activities and the annual National Insect Day, subscribing to its newsletter, or becoming a donor. Donations and income from assignments support research, publications, education and nature conservation.
