About Kentake Page
Harriet Tubman (1820 – 1913) is celebrated as a prominent abolitionist, humanitarian, and Union spy during the American Civil War. Born Araminta Ross in Maryland, she escaped from slavery in 1849, fearing for her family's fate under an oppressive enslaver. Tubman became a crucial conductor on the Underground Railroad, leading hundreds to freedom while navigating perilous conditions.
Her unwavering courage inspired figures like W. E. B.
Du Bois and Frederick Douglass, who recognized her heroic dedication to freedom. Over a decade, Tubman executed numerous missions, carefully planning her seasonal journeys to evade slave hunters and ensuring the safety of all her passengers—remarkably, she noted never losing a single person she guided. Beyond her railroad activities, she actively supported women's suffrage and collaborated with leading abolitionists.
Harriet's legacy includes her tireless work for justice, her strategic involvement in the Civil War, and her enduring message of empowerment and resilience. Her life continues to inspire those who strive for equity and freedom
