The Kenya Chemical Society (KCS), established in 1991, is a leading non-political scientific and professional organization for chemists in Kenya. With its secretariat located at The Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi, KCS unites members from various sectors, including the chemical industry, research institutions, government entities, and international professionals. The society's primary mission revolves around fostering innovation, education, and social responsibility within the chemical sciences.
KCS actively engages its diverse membership, which consists of life, ordinary, associate, student, and corporate categories, totaling 787 members as of October 2020. The organization is governed by an elected council and features six semi-autonomous regional chapters: Nairobi, Western, North Rift, South Rift, Eastern, and Coast. Each chapter operates independently while reporting back to the national office. KCS also offers a variety of resources, including educational courses, publications, and networking opportunities for professionals involved in chemistry, enhancing collaboration and knowledge sharing across the field.
